> Provided it's snowing ...

At the end of October, a few flakes came sprinkle the tops of our firs. At this time of year the snow is certainly ephemeral, but we hope it will return soon enough be a cloak for the practice of winter sports.

After a 2005-2006 season in exceptional snow, it should be recognized that 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 respectively - 62.7% and - 29% attendance in comparison with the average of the last 4 years were disastrous to say the least.

Last spring, even though the Secretary of State for Tourism stood a very satisfactory for the winter season, Station Gerardmer knew dark days: the company Maulin had resumed in 2006 the ski area for a period of 20 years, could no longer honor the refund of input amounted to 10 million euros, payable annually the town on the duration of the concession.
In the general interest, and to avoid a lengthy and uncertain, the municipality has decided to resume the station in municipal governance, as is the case, for example to Chamrousse in the Alps. I bet that the municipality will géromoise this winter, more than other, staring into the sky, imploring to snow falling ...

Global warming and the weather becoming more erratic does not suggest that the future will be any rest for the alpine resorts such as ... Vosges!
For proof, who would have thought until recently that the resort of Abondance in Haute-Savoie was closing? Well it's done since spring 2007!
The lack of snow and the accumulation of debts were due to this small area in the Chablais who practiced for over 40 years of winter sports industry in a spirit similar to that of our stations Vosges

In conclusion ... we must admit the mid-mountain resorts, which include those of our constituency, will now have to adapt and diversify their activities in both winter and summer. For this, the various institutions that are common, the General Council and the Regional Council are to leave the perennial divide "left-right" and work together to tailor solutions to sustain the tourist attraction that is the High-Vosges.

But in the meantime ... provided it snow!

> The high school reform: the ministerial announcements

October 21, Xavier Darcos gave a press conference during which he gave an update on high school reform. After the ads more contradictory to each other, we finally see a little clearer. At least as regards the new 2nd. For the final cycle appears for now "pending."

More than a long explanation, here is what the future should look like 2nd class (schedule weekly total of 30h).

General lessons include (weekly total of 21h):
- French
-
Mathematics - History Geography and Civics
- experimental sciences
- Modern Languages (1 and 2)
- EPS

The 4 elective modules include (weekly total of 6 hours):
- Humanities
- Science
-
Sciences Society - Technology

Finally, the support required (support / guidance) is 3 hours weekly. OUR ANALYSIS

Today, we realize a (re) orientation too high at the end of 2nd. The causes are not very mysterious: orientation more or less successful (forced?) In end of 3rd - ignorance of the terminal branches of the cycle - choosing individual lessons of determination by "conformist" (to go to the nearest school / friends to stay with the 3rd etc..).

So one might think that the idea of a sort of "refocusing" of the options (modules) in the middle of 2nd would be a good thing and avoid waiting a year to make an admission of failure and reorientation.

commm many ideas, they would be perfect in a virtual world ... But the real declination advanced concepts will not be without problems or ask several questions :
- additional workload for all staff in schools (and half-board orientation process).
- Increased complexity in organizing staff schedules and classes if the 4 modules are not selected upon entry into 2nd (which in this case does nothing to solve the initial problem).
- Potential risk of reaching an annualization of the year for staff.
- What solutions for students with academic failure at school from the major biannual report?

We easily understood by choosing to address the consequences of problems rather than causes, the department will probably deliver a mouse. However, mice that nibble a little over the working conditions of staff, management teams of teachers.

For us, before worrying about the redistribution of the 2nd year, there would probably be more material to include in the agenda of the ministerial concern noble project of an education system more efficient in terms of acquisition basic knowledge (and not always even and budget savings). Let us not forget that we would put in place in 2nd hour support while they removes a half-day course in elementary school and high threats on RASED (a device for individualized care problems at school) ...
